Season Four_ Episode One

Our Times is a news magazine program produced by the Video Magazine Storytelling class in the Department of Journalism at Boston University. In Season Four’s first episode, Leire Garrogerricaechebarria reports on the Dance Theatre Group’s creative journey from concept to performance. Zere Amangeldinova profiles a master’s student as she pursues her passion for science while challenging gender stereotypes. Zihan  Zhang follows “Mr. Colombia” as he celebrates and promotes Colombian identity and pride. Lee Dwyer explores the work and passion of an activist artist. And Henna Cook takes us behind the scenes of a B.U. hip-hop dance team as they prepare for and perform in a major competition.

Zere Amangeldinova

The Science She Lives

Zere Amangeldinova is an international master’s student in Journalism at Boston University. Originally from Astana, Kazakhstan, she focuses on storytelling that highlights underrepresented voices and explores the intersection of gender and identity.

Lee Dwyer

Art Against the Machine

Lee Dwyer is a graduate Journalism student at Boston University, focusing on photo and video journalism. They have built a portfolio in multiple areas of media, including documentary filmmaking, podcasting, writing print articles, and sports broadcasting. Lee currently works as a Graphics and Video Production Assistant and a crew member for BUTV10 on the Boston University campus. 

Leire Garrogerricaechebarria

Movement in Making

Leire Garrogerricaechebarria is a multimedia journalist and visual storyteller with over five years of experience in video production and photography. She began her career in broadcast journalism through her high school TV production program, before transitioning into feature and creative multimedia work that explores themes of art, culture, and human experience. She has directed and produced videos that were published in the Boston University News Service and The Daily Free Press. Her storytelling has been recognized with an Honorable Mention at the Student Emmy Awards. Leire is passionate about capturing authentic stories that connect people through emotion and purpose.

Zihan Zhang

Mr. Colombia

Zihan Zhang is a Journalism student at Boston University who has produced documentaries, news stories, and podcasts during her studies. She covered the 2024 election as a reporter for BUNS, Boston University News Service. Through an internship at China Central Television (CCTV), she contributed to the production of the documentary “Shen Zhou.” Passionate about storytelling, Zihan aims to use her skills to share narratives and amplify the voices of underrepresented communities.

Henna Cook

Henna Cook is a junior at Boston University, double-majoring in Film and Television and Advertising, currently working as a Fashion Marketing and Merchandising Intern and Graphic Design Chair for Unofficial Project Dance Team, as well as serving as Vice President of the Korean Student Association. She has a strong passion for art, fashion, and design, and hopes to pursue a career in the future combining her love for all things creative.
