Season Two_Episode One

Our Times is a news magazine program produced by the Video Magazine Storytelling class in the Department of Journalism at Boston University. In Season Two’s first episode Emma Hagert goes behind the scenes to document the making of a B.U. student dramedy whodunit web series; Yuting Li is on the streets of Boston reporting on a street musician and his Jimi Hendrix-inspired music; Hsuan Ma’s story reveals how public spaces can become canvases for personal expression and cultural storytelling; and Julia Wiegand checks out an intentional co-living community inhabited by visionaries, creatives, musicians and artists.

Emma Hagert is a journalism and film student at Boston University with experience creating nonfiction and fictional narratives for visual storytelling mediums. Emma and her camera go behind the scenes to look at the making of a B.U. student whodunnit dramedyweb series.

The Artist and the City Canvas

With her primary focus in photography, multimedia, and documentary storytelling, Hsuan Ma is a second-year student in the journalism master’s program at Boston University. In her story she captures the intersection of urban art and community spirit in the painting of electric boxes.

Yuting Li          

Purple People Pleaser

Yuting Li is a second-year student in the journalism master’s program at Boston University. Yuting went the streets of Boston and found James Bourne, aka Jimi Blacksheep singing and playing his purple guitar entertaining passersby. Whether using a pen or a camera, her aim has always been to strive to become a better storyteller.

Julia Wiegand 

Estate of Mind

Second year Journalism grad, Julia Wiegand checks out an intentional co-living community inhabited by visionaries, creatives, musicians, and artists. With her passion and curiosity as a visual storyteller, Julia examines this Victorian manor with a dark past as the residents create a space filled with creativity, community, and purpose.
